Melted Film Festival
Melted Film Festival is a screening platform for experimental filmmaking practices. This year, its third edition will take place over four evenings at LAB-1 during Dutch Design Week 2025 in Eindhoven.
Curated by Design Academy Eindhoven alumni and the Trash Club, the festival aims to respond to the growing interest in film as a medium within the school, and within the design community at large. The selected works were gathered via an open call and grouped around complementary themes giving an insight into the urgencies and curiosities of our time.
Each evening offers a diverse selection of films, ranging from documentary-style works to conceptual pieces, found footage to animations, and essay films to speculative fiction. Prior to the film screening there will be a short opening act performance by the Trash Club.
Tue 21st NIGHT 1
Opening this year’s Melted Film Festival is The Momentum Night - from the flap of a moth’s wings to the swell of a storm. The collection of films show how one small gesture can set off a whole series of events. Gaining motion, we follow - as a spark becomes a friendship, an industry, a crowd, a movement.
Wed 22nd NIGHT 2
On the second evening of the Melted Film Festival, The Disorientation Night, we welcome filmmakers who take us far from our velvet seats. Traveling between the stone age and a speculative future, from Slovenian music videos to the mountains of France. See what it takes of your senses and mind to reorient yourself to the worlds these filmmakers navigate.
Thu 23rd NIGHT 3
On the third evening, Melted Film Festival presents The Stone Night. These films move beyond the human scale, expanding our view point, and slowing us down. Through poetry, stoned friends, and volcanic rocks, these films share the lessons of stillness.
Fri 24th NIGHT 4
The final night of the Melted Film Festival is The Love Night. These filmmakers use video as a tool to capture the love that courses through the kitchen, the archive, the concrete city, and the favela. Come with the ones you love and enjoy the puppets, grandmas, and musicians you’ll meet on the big screen.
