De familie Spijkerberg is absurd rijk, maar ook rijkelijk absurd. De dwaze, patserige vader verzamelt maquettes van historische gruweldaden. Moeder is een voormalige prima donna die zich verzet tegen haar wegkwijnen. Even bevoorrecht en achteloos wreed is hun dochter Amy, een opstandige maar ook enigszins teruggetrokken tiener met een scherpe pen. Om zich te troosten in haar geïsoleerd bestaan, zet Amy een Kabuki-achtig theater op. Dit dreigt het liefdeloze huishouden te kannibaliseren.

Rond de eeuwwisseling stak hij een koevoet in de gestigmatiseerde cumbia-muziek met vervorming en hallucinerende lyrics, de laatste jaren noemt hij zijn muziek Celulitis Popular. Zijn laatste optredens in Nederland waren op IFFR festival Rotterdam en in de Uitkijk, waar iedereen furieus tussen de bioskoopstoelen stond te dansen.

The Spijkerberg family is absurdly rich, but also richly absurd. Their only child, the carelessly cruel Amy, puts on a Kabuki-like theatre to comfort herself and poignantly portray her privileged existence. This motley enterprise threatens to cannibalize the loveless household.
If Yes, Okay resorts to a light-hearted and musical approach, playfully denouncing crucial issues of the society. The result is an absurd and experimental feature film, abundant with bold satire in an exuberant colour palette.
After the film, the audience will have the opportunity to hear more songs and melodies played live by Dick Verdult aka Dick El Demasiado on stage in our event room.
