A prince forced into exile, a princess taken by a powerful demon king and a battle that will decide the fate of a kingdom. Ramayana brings one of India's most celebrated epics to the big screen in an ambitious retelling of love, loyalty and the struggle between good and evil
Prince Rama, heir to the kingdom of Ayodhya, is forced to leave his home and spend fourteen years in exile. Accompanied by his wife Sita and his devoted brother Lakshmana, he begins a new life far from the royal palace.
Their peaceful existence is shattered when Sita is abducted by Ravana, the powerful ruler of Lanka. Determined to bring her home, Rama sets out on a dangerous journey that leads him to new allies, including the devoted Hanuman and an army of warriors willing to fight alongside him.
What begins as a personal mission becomes an epic confrontation between two powerful forces, testing Rama's courage, loyalty and commitment to his duty.
The Ramayana is one of the foundational epics of Indian literature and Hindu tradition, telling a story of duty, devotion, love and the struggle between righteousness and evil.
Nitesh Tiwari's adaptation is planned as a two-part cinematic epic, with the first film scheduled for November 2026 and the second for 2027.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari (Dangal), Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, alongside Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana. With large-scale visual effects by DNEG and music by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, the production brings together some of the biggest names in Indian and international cinema.
