A grand and visually striking new chapter where fantasy adventure meets political intrigue beneath the waves
In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea, Rimuru and his companions travel to a luxurious island resort for a rare moment of rest. But their peaceful getaway is quickly interrupted when a mysterious conflict begins to unfold at sea.
What first appears distant soon pulls them into a complex struggle involving the underwater kingdom of Kaien, a missing priestess and an ancient force connected to a legendary water-dragon protector. As alliances shift and tensions escalate, the story deepens into a mix of intrigue and large-scale battles beneath the ocean’s surface.
Based on the popular franchise That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, this new film by Yasuhito Kikuchi expands the universe with a darker, more atmospheric tone. While earlier entries leaned more on humor, Tears of the Azure Sea emphasizes spectacle, world-building and emotional weight, supported by increasingly refined animation.
